Over £1 million deposited with PayPoint BankLocal service, just weeks after successful launch with Lloyds

16 September 2025: PayPoint has today announced that over £1 million has been deposited with its BankLocal service in the first few weeks after launch. The new service was launched on 26th August and saw Lloyds become the first major UK bank to launch a mobile app feature which allows up to £300 per day in cash to be paid in at over 30,000 convenient PayPoint locations nationwide, using a simple barcode.

The first customer transaction on the launch day was processed by Mr. Harshil Shah, owner of General Store & Newsagents in Leicester, just hours after the service was made available for Lloyds customers.

With 99.5% of people living within a mile of a PayPoint store, they provide a simple and convenient way to take care of many everyday errands. From returning or collecting parcels, to paying bills, buying gift cards or topping up a mobile phone, PayPoint makes it easy to get things done in one place, across a wide range of locations nationwide.

Customers can find their nearest PayPoint location using the Lloyds app or on the PayPoint website.

The speed in which the BankLocal service has reached this milestone validates the consumer demand for this service and demonstrates the importance of local convenience stores to the communities they serve. Thanks to our network of over 30,000 PayPoint retailer partners nationwide, we’re looking forward to seeing the service continue to build momentum and deliver an essential banking service to even more customers in the future.
