PayPoint are pleased to announce a partnership with SmarterPay to strengthen fraud and error prevention for companies using Confirmation of Payee (CoP)

Welwyn Garden City, 26 May 2026 — PayPoint have announced a new partnership with the payment solutions provider SmarterPay, to integrate PayPoint's Confirmation of Payee (CoP) capability into SmarterPay’s advanced cloud workflows and API integrations.

With businesses facing an unprecedented volume of targeted payment scams, they need access to robust payment controls that scale with their operations. PayPoint’s CoP offering enables SmarterPay’s customers to instantly verify payee account details as part of their manual or automated payment workflows, reinforcing security and accountability at every step.

CoP, also known as Account Name Verification (ANV), is a valuable real-time anti-fraud measure that checks the accuracy of payee details before funds are sent. It allows finance teams to ensure that the account details match the intended payee or company name to reduce fraud and misdirected payments. This can be done either directly within the SmarterPay Cloud platform or via API integration. By providing transparent, actionable results (Full Match, Close Match, or No Match), the solution adds a powerful validation step that eliminates manual uncertainty, stops fraud, and prevents costly payment errors before they happen.

SmarterPay’s integrated solution is specifically designed with UK payments in mind, aligning closely with regulatory requirements and standards. It is built to seamlessly handle high-volume operational needs, including payroll runs, supplier payments, and transaction spikes, with a full, transparent audit trail that guarantees compliance.

We’re delighted to be partnering with PayPoint to integrate their Confirmation of Payee capability into the SmarterPay platform. As fraud prevention and payment verification become increasingly critical across the payment’s ecosystem, this agreement represents an important step in strengthening security, improving trust, and delivering a smoother payment experience for our customers. By incorporating Confirmation of Payee directly into our system build, we’re enabling organisations to validate account details before payments are made, helping to reduce errors, prevent misdirected payments, and support compliance requirements. Technically, the integration has been designed to be scalable, resilient, and simple for clients to adopt within existing workflows. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation in payments infrastructure and to providing practical solutions that enhance both operational efficiency and customer confidence.

Together, we’re helping businesses reduce fraud risk, streamline payment processes, and deliver more secure, reliable payment experiences.
